CPT STEPHEN J. BRUCKER (May 2015 - July 2024)
CPT Stephen Brucker was born in April, 1993 in Schenectady, New York. He attended Syracuse University where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations with a focus on International Security and Diplomacy in the Middle East. While attending Syracuse University, he was enrolled in the Army ROTC program where he graduated with distinguished honors and joined the Signal Corps.
Shortly after college, Stephen attended Signal Basic Officer Leadership Course (BOLC) at Fort Gordon, GA. Upon graduation of BOLC, he was assigned to the Battalion Support Company of 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. He served as the Signal Detachment Commander for three years and deployed as part of the J6 staff in support of SOJTF-OIR from December 2016 until May 2017. During his deployment, CPT Brucker deployed forward to Syria as the Communications Integrator (COMM-I) for all branches of the military for a newly built base in Northern Syria.
Following his tour in support of SOJTF-OIR, CPT Brucker was selected to remain in the same battalion and serve as the Battalion S6 from May 2019 through June 2020. Stephen’s battalion was deployed from July of 2019 to February of 2020, where he served as the Signal Center Director for Special Operations Task Force – Afghanistan (SOTF-A). Following his BN S6 time, CPT Brucker PCSed to Fort Gordon and completed Signal Captains Career Course (SCCC), earning recognition on the Commandant’s List. Upon completion of SCCC, he was assigned to JBLE, VA to serve as the S3 Operations Battle Captain, Cybersecurity Deputy Director, and Company Commander in the 93d Signal Brigade (Strategic). Stephen’s technical certifications include PMP, Network +, Security +, and CCNA.
CPT Brucker’s awards include the Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster and “C” device, Army Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.
CPT Brucker is happily married to the late Julianne Moran of Schenectady, NY and they have one daughter named Raegan Ray. Following Stephen’s 10 years of Active Duty service, he received an honorable discharge and relocated his family back to their hometown in upstate New York. Stephen currently serves as the Cybersecurity Operations Manager for the New York State Office of the Attorney General. Stephen’s immediate family includes his mother and father, Mark and Joan who reside in Schenectady, NY. Stephen also has two older, deaf brothers, Christopher and Daniel.
